Finding love and support

Oftentimes, LGBTQ+ people have found and built their chosen family out of necessity, due to a lack of understanding or acceptance by their family of origin. These close-knit family bonds among friends are a critical source of connection, love and support. “What do you want from a family?" asks Jack Heifner, who identifies as gay. "You want someone who lets you be who you are” (Blum, 2022).
