The Case of Thomas(ine) Hall
Born around the year 1600, Thomas(ine) Hall traveled to the colony of Virginia in 1627. When questions arose about their gender identity, Thomas(ine) was subjected to a series of physical examinations to determine whether they were male or female. But Thomas(ine)'s body did not fit easily into either category, as is the case with persons who are intersex. Watch this short film to learn about Thomas(ine)'s life and what happened next.
